Creative Commons Attribution License

Open Access Policy

All journals of the Canadian Institute for Knowledge Development (CIKD) publish open access articles under the terms and conditions of the Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) License.  The CC BY License permits use - including commercial and non-commercial reuse - distribution, and reproduction in any medium, as long as the original work is properly cited. 

By submitting their manuscripts to any of the CIKD’s journals, the authors transfer to the journal the right to publish their work under the terms of CC BY License.

In some cases, if we decide to choose the other types of Creative Common license, we will inform related authors before publication.

 

The author can request an exception to the CC BY license during submission

If you wish to apply for this exception and retain other license types to your submitted manuscript, you should complete an exception form. All authors shall sign the form. You will need to send the original copy of the form (a scanned copy) during the submission and have your request approved before your paper is proceeded by the journal. The available license options from Creative Commons License are outlined below:

CC BY: This license allows reusers to distribute, remix, adapt, and build upon the material in any medium or format, so long as attribution is given to the creator. The license allows for commercial use.

CC BY includes the following elements:

Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-SA 4.0)

CC BY-SA: This license allows reusers to distribute, remix, adapt, and build upon the material in any medium or format, so long as attribution is given to the creator. The license allows for commercial use. If you remix, adapt, or build upon the material, you must license the modified material under identical terms.

CC BY-SA includes the following elements:

BY   – Credit must be given to the creator

SA  – Adaptations must be shared under the same terms
