The study of effective factors in the implementation of knowledge management: A case study of Hormozgan Steel Company

Today, one of the most important and valuable capitals in any organization is knowledge. Rapid changes and high growth of knowledge and information lead any organization to concentrate its effort on knowledge management to improve organizational abilities. Therefore, studying effective factors in the implementation of knowledge management is of great importance from cultural, structural, and technological aspects. This research is applicable in terms of goal and is a descriptive survey in terms of data collection. The statistical population consisted of 600 official employees of Hormozgan Steel Company which 234 of them were selected as sample through stratified random sampling and Cochran Formula. A questionnaire was used for data collection. The results indicated that the mentioned company suffers from lack of implementation of knowledge management in terms of culture aspect but in terms of two other aspects, i.e. technology and organizational structure, knowledge management establishment is in good condition.

Human resource practices and knowledge sharing: The moderating role of trust

HRM is considered as a backbone for successful organizations and knowledge sharing plays a vital role for an organization to success globally. The purpose of the study is to understand the factors that contribute to knowledge sharing in an organization. This study explains how the effective training, fair compensation and performance appraisal affects the knowledge sharing. The impact of trust on relationship of HR practices and knowledge sharing is also examined. The study empirically analyzes the relationship between HR practices and the knowledge sharing and the strong effect of trust. The correlations, simple and multiple regression tests apply to data. Findings provide evidence of a positive and significant relationship between the HR practices and knowledge sharing in the presence of trust. An organization that wants to enhance the creation, innovation and development of knowledge sharing in organization must pay attention to its HRM practices and on trust worthy environment.

Building and Maintaining an Effective Compliance Program

The ethics, corporate compliance and anti-fraud functions have faced a rapid growth in the last few years. Such a growth was explained as a kind of response to several high profile governance failures and subsequent regulatory reforms. Organizations throughout the whole world are now making huge investments in compliance, ethics and fraud prevention, launching their compliance programs, building risk management systems, rolling out comprehensive mandatory trainings and communication plans, designing and distributing compliance standards and procedures, and engaging their employees through so called tone from the top. This trend has touched companies from various industries and markets even from those that are traditionally receiving less regulatory attention. Nowadays, when most of the organizations have already established some basic level of compliance, anti-fraud, and ethics infrastructure, many of them begin to evaluate whether these are effective enough. This paper sets forth several ideas, tools, examples, and solutions tending to help and support the organizations in either building or preserving their effective compliance programs.

Profiling innovation research in social sciences citation index (2009 to 2014)

Innovation is an important concept for human being that is one of the unavoidable requirements that statuses can transfer to knowledge economy; hence, it affects all nations. The everlasting change also has an effect on the way innovation is performed. In addition, innovation research has some common and basic properties; however, inevitable changes in innovation activities have changed innovation based researches. This reality has made it imperative to undertake research about the change in innovation research. Innovation research encompasses all disciplines and industries. This paper studies the innovation trend in business discipline. To this end, the relevant literature in business discipline published in Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI) journals from 2009 to 2014 has been reviewed through bibliometric analysis. It has been found that innovation research in business discipline began with the issues related to economy. In addition, much of the research is related to the management function of business. The other noteworthy finding is that innovation is not limited to the boundary of a firm. Instead, firms are innovating with partners. Hence, it becomes a necessity to learn and manage knowledge. 

Determinants of corporate cash holdings in Pakistan

Corporate cash holdings always involve a trade-off between benefits and costs. This study investigates the determinants of corporate cash holdings. Cash flows, leverage, liquidity, cash flows volatility, profitability, growth opportunities, firm size, debt maturity, and dividend represent the independent variables in the research study. It is based on a panel data of 150 Pakistani non-financial listed firms on KSE during the period 2004 - 2012. Panel regression analysis has been conducted to determine the major factors affecting cash holdings. The results imply that growth opportunity, company size, cash flows, and profitability of the firms exert a positive effect while leverage and liquidity show a significant negative impact on corporate cash holding. The findings indicated that both pecking order theory and trade-off theory play an important role in explaining the determinants of corporate cash holdings. The findings are beneficial for managers, shareholders, investors, regulatory bodies, and researchers for developing appropriate policies. 

The impact of SHRM on sustainable organizational learning and performance development

This article aimed at developing a conceptual framework about the role of Strategic Human Resource Management (SHRM) and its impact on managerial skills and organizational performance which offered some insights into how learning might occur at the organizational level in order to improve organizational capability as well as individual capability. It also indicated that there were plenty of research studies to advocate the influence of SHRM. Nevertheless, there were some rare examples of linkages between SHRM and sustainable organizational learning practices that can improve organizations effectiveness and develop its performance through ample qualification, suitable working condition, and potential motivation. Thus, this article aims to emphasize on several approaches of organizational learning as facilitating variables. Today, the strategic part of HRM practices which was integrated within the organization stated that the success of the organizational performance lied in developing positive attitudes of individuals, groups, and organizations that mainly enhanced individual competence as well organizational competence through organizational learning. Therefore, the context of this study identified the key concept of SHRM that influenced and boosted knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA’s) of employees in an organization. Finally, this article recommended some research suggestions based on the highlighted propositions that accelerated organizational performance and improved competitive abilities.

Mechanisms of monitoring efficiency of the state executive authorities: Theory and practice

The paper presents results of studying mechanisms applicable to evaluating performance efficiency of the executive authorities in one of the Russian Federation regions – Samara oblast – involved in organizing delivery of social services, which includes review of normative documents containing methodological deliberation and guidelines on conducting the monitoring. The indicators, which use in monitoring, shall be compatible with the following requirements: in calculating the indicators numerical values, applicable shall be the data of governmental statistical accounting or information collected in the course of carrying out official evaluation procedures; in calculating the indicators, applicable shall be easily verifiable information collected as a result of responses of the social services territorial management entities to inquiries of higher-level authorities; the use of indicators shall not imply interpretation of the collected information. It also important to substitute indicators that require additional interpretation for indicators that are supposed to demonstrate the immediate result of the public authority body’s activity; such indicators have to be able of impacting the public administration body’s activity in the event of using them in the monitoring patterns.
